Batteries stolen from golf cart parked at post office on Historic Side

The batteries were stolen out of a golf cart parked at the post office on the Historic Side of The Villages.

A 64-year-old Village of Silver Lake man reported this week that he had parked his blue Yamaha golf cart on Jan. 15 at the post office on La Grande Boulevard. He had left the golf cart there all day while he went out with a friend, according to an incident report from the Lady Lake Police Department. When he returned, his golf cart would not start. When he lifted up the seat, he discovered that all six batteries had been removed and cut from their connecting cables.

The replacement cost came to $900.

The owner of the golf cart reported the incident to Lady Lake police at the request of his insurance company.
