A Village of Belle Aire man was arrested by Sumter County sheriff’s deputies after driving his golf cart into a street where it didn’t belong.
Deputies responded to Buenos Aires Boulevard at 10:21 p.m. Friday where a deputy initiated a traffic stop on a red Yamaha golf cart which was being driven on a non-golf cart road.
Henry Kemper Hood, 42, of Richmond Drive, “knowingly drove his golf cart past a sign that designated no golf carts beyond that point,” according to the arrest report.
Deputies detected the odor of alcohol. Hood failed field sobriety exercises. He was transported to the Sumter County Detention Center, where deputies ran a criminal history check and found that Hood had been convicted of DUI in Orange County in 2003. His license had been suspended as a result of that conviction.
He was charged with driving under the influence (second offense) and bond was set at $2,000.
His golf cart was towed from the scene by Wildwood Auto Towing.
