Belleview man struck and killed by train

A 37-year-old Belleview man was killed at 11 a.m. Monday when he was struck by a train.

James Bare III was walking south in the middle of a railroad track near SE 98 Lane in Belleview. At the same time, a train was travelling north on the same track, according to information from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. Witnesses told authorities the train’s horn was blown repeatedly.

Bare was hit and died at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
