Ben Carson fans camp out overnight to secure place in line for today’s event

Fans of Ben Carson camped out overnight at Barnes & Noble in Lake Sumter Landing to be first in line for the neurosurgeon’s appearance Monday afternoon in The Villages.

Krissy Meadows and Jeannine Plummer of Belleview arrived at 7 p.m. Sunday to be first in line.

Village of Lake Deaton resident Chet Johnson arrived at midnight to secure his place in line. His goal is to get a book signed for his daughter, Sarah, who lives in Knoxville, Tenn.

Annie and Tom Otto who live at Continental Country Club in Wildwood set up a life-sized cutout of the GOP’s presidential frontrunner in the bookstore’s parking lot. They said they have known Carson for more than three years.
