It may be snowy and cold in New York City but the atmosphere will be warm when three Broadway veterans come to St. Timothy’s Catholic Church at 4 and 7 p.m. on March 23.
The concert is called “Best of Broadway” for good reason. Grant Norman of “The Phantom;” Melissa Minyard of “Les Miserables” and Brian Minyard, “Annie Get Your Gun” will all perform at the church. Also appearing are local singers Sam Reynolds, Kathleen Kane, Heather Ard and Angie Wiswesser.
Maestro Bill Doherty will conduct and appear with the St. Timothy Catholic Church Choir.
Grant Norman is best known for his lead role in “Phantom of the Opera.” He also starred in “Beauty and the Beast” and was in “Miss Saigon.”
Norman occasionally appears in The Villages and enjoys the atmosphere at St. Timothy’s.
“I love coming back to The Villages because the audiences are so warm and welcoming,” Norman has said. “This is a beautiful church and the acoustics are great. Singers love singing in what we call a live space — there is a lot of reverberation and the sound is excellent.”
Melissa Minyard is best known for her performances in “Les Miserables” and she and husband Brian Minyard have been singing together for nearly two decades.
Brian Minyard started out as an engineer with NASA but discovered singing on stage was a lot more fun. He appeared in “Annie Get Your Gun” on Broadway and also “Johnny Guitar” and “The Prince and the Pauper.”
Here is a video of Brian and Melissa Minyard singing “If I Loved You.”
