Betty Deighton, 74, of the Villages, FL, passed away suddenly on August 6, 2016. She was born in Tower, MI the daughter of Gordie and Goldie Buzzell, and was one of 7 daughters. She married Wayne Deighton in February of 1964. She moved to the Villages from Michigan in 1998.
She earned a Bachelors Degree in Education from Central Michigan University, and went on to earn a Masters Degree from Oakland University and was also a Licensed Social Worker. She taught for many years and spent the last several years of her working life as a Principal at WJ Maxey Boys Training School. At the Villages she kept active, creating and teaching “Giggles and Shakes” exercise class. She loved spending time with her family, playing cards, doing crossword puzzles and playing with her dog “Teddy”.
She is Survived by her Husband, Wayne Deighton of the Villages; daughter, Robyn Deighton, of Grand Island, FL.; son, David (Karen) Deighton, of Linden, MI.; and son, Jeremy (Heather) Deighton, of Marion, MI.; and 4 grandchildren; Joshua, Alison, Derek and Jared, and 3 sisters.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society. Her wish is that her friends put on their shoes and a sparkly hat and head to the square to dance like nobody’s watching.
