Betty Joyce Richey, 82, passed away Tuesday, September 30, 2014 in Leesburg, Florida. Betty was born in Miami, Florida and moved to the Leesburg area from her birthplace in 1952. She had a long career with Citizens National Bank in Leesburg and retired as head bookkeeper after more than 20 years of service. She was a member of the Morrison United Methodist Church in Leesburg, and the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed shopping and reading but it was clear that Betty’s hobby was her family, and she exhibited her commitment to family through her unconditional love and dedication to her husband Bud who passed away in 1966 and her children and extended family members. Family was everything and truly defined her. Those close to her use words like caring, kind, gentle, and dedicated to describe her; but most of all she had a generous spirit and often gave of herself and provided for others never seeking credit. She is survived by her son – Tommy (April) Richey – Leesburg; Daughter – Joyce Huey – Leesburg; Twin Sister and best friend – Barbara J. Morphet – Leesburg; 2 Grandchildren – Justin T. (Sarah) Richey and Michael P. Huey; and 4 Great-Grandchildren – Makenna, Harper, Tenley and Asher. A celebration of her life is planned for 3:00 p.m., Saturday, October 5, 2014 at the Page-Theus Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Downtown Leesburg with Pastor Jim Keegan of New Life Presbyterian Church serving as Officiant. Interment will immediately follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Leesburg.
