Camerata Concert in the round at Temple Shalom to include voices of Charter School students

Temple Shalom of Oxford is fast becoming a leading venue for the presentation of live music – classical; jazz; Broadway show tunes – by both new and established artists and groups.

At 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov 15, the Camerata String Ensemble of Central Florida will give its third concert in the round. Camerata has grown from three to 16 accomplished musicians all of whom perform in local orchestras in the Villages and Tri-County area. Two Temple Members, Debbie Dessert and Jeanne Halberg are members of the ensemble.

Mizette Fuenzalida, the founding conductor of the Naples Philharmonic and Villager, directs the Ensemble in playing the beautiful music of Mozart, Bach, Mendelssohn, Dvorak and more. At the upcoming concert, the Ensemble welcomes five local students, all of whom were taught at the Villages Charter schools by Sherry Hofmeister, in whose memory the concert is dedicated.

Hofmeister devoted herself to teaching children the intricacies of the violin and instilled in them the love of music. Her former students Emily Fergusen, Jelka Joseph from the Villages Charter High School; Kendall Rumor and Reagan Rumor who attend the Middle School and Jennifer Pascarella, now a freshman at Lake Sumter State College will be playing Eine Kleine Nachtmusick with the Ensemble. They will play the Bach Concerto Number Two by themselves.

Tickets for Temple members are $15 and $17 for the general public. Children accompanied by a ticket holding adult are admitted free. Call (352) 748-1800 to reserve your seat or for questions. Limited tickets will be available at the door.
