Community Development District 3 supervisors have again rebuffed the idea of putting center stripes on the district’s golf cart paths.
“To me, it’s a safety issue,” resident Raymond Kissner, who supports striping, told CDD 3 supervisors on Friday. “I would like a little consideration.”
CDD 4 is the only district to have striped its paths, earning them the nickname of the “rogue” district.
But Lazenby, who spent a dozen years as the emergency medical services chief in The Villages, said center striping won’t improve safety.
“The number of accidents on the paths is very small,” he said, adding that a head-on golf cart collision occurred in CDD 4 after the paths were striped. “It’s a feel-good response.”
He said speed and alcohol consumption are more prevalent causes of accidents.
Franklin said the striping can make the paths slippery for walkers and bicyclists.
