District Manager Janet Tutt suggested Friday that Community Development District 4 supervisors find a new engineer if they can’t find a way to work productively with current engineer, Kimley-Horn & Associates Inc.
The breaking point came Friday afternoon when supervisors were expressing concern over speed limit signs on the roads in CDD 4 and a proposed “safe zone” near Mulberry Grove Plaza.
In the past, CDD 4 supervisors have voiced their concern about advice they have received from Kimley-Horn.
Tutt, who pointed out that Kimley-Horn has respected credentials and has enjoyed a positive working relationship with The Villages for many years, said it might be time for CDD 4 to find a new engineer.
“If this board does not have the confidence in the engineer, I think it is appropriate that you look for another,” Tutt said.
She said hiring an engineer is up to the board.
“Maybe it’s time,” said CDD Chairman Paul Kelly.
CDD 4 has earned a reputation of going its own way and famously went “rogue” a couple of years ago when the board voted to put down striping down the center of the multi-modal path within its boundaries.
