Community Development District supervisors will gather next week to discuss new powers they have been granted to enforce parking restrictions in The Villages.

The meeting will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17 at Savannah Center.

The new legislation, which took effect on July 1, authorizes Community Development Districts to contract with towing operators to remove vehicles from District-owned properties or facilities if certain procedural and notice requirements are followed.

“At the joint meeting I will go over the amendment, the steps necessary to implement the authority granted by the amendment, the potential for unintended consequences if the authority granted by the amendment is exercised, liability considerations and answer any questions,” said District counsel Valerie Fuchs.

Lady Lake police have already begun cracking down on parking violators, in particular those parking in the wrong direction on a street. You can read more about their efforts HERE
