To the Editor:
Isn’t it interesting that once again The Villages invokes the – “this is The Villages – you chose to move here – we make the rules – you don’t like the rules – leave” statement. CDD 4 Chairman Paul Kelly said certain residents are told that a white cross is a lawn ornament and cannot be displayed because they signed a contract.
CDD stated, “We cannot change the deed restrictions. You signed a contract,” Kelly said. “We all signed them. It has nothing do with religion. It’s all about lawn ornaments.” Wrong – it is about religion and the fact that someone, probably an agnostic, complained about it. Why doesn’t CDD just amend that and stop acting against residents’ Freedom of Religion?
