Central Florida League Fall 2017 Highlights Week Two

Week two fall ‘17 action in the Central Florida League saw five teams remain undefeated.

Synergy Wealth defeated Babiarz Law 16-2.

Leading Synergy with three hits each were: Vernon Brooks, Jim Creed, John Reedy, Rick Fredieu and Ed Shirk. Chipping in a pair of hits were: Dale Neff, Jim Gordon, and George Kennedy. Babiarz Law only managed seven hits off of Synergy pitcher Bud Ramsey. Sub Mark Collette had two hits. Bob Winder drove in one run with a sacrifice fly in the first inning and Dan Coopman drove in the other with a sac fly in the fifth.

For the second week in a row FBC Mortgage stormed back in the last inning for a win by defeating the Firecrackers 13-11.

John Leone led the team with three hits. Smacking two hits each were: Tim WIlcox, Ed Joseph, Gary DePalma, Jim Joseph and Marty Berger, who had a pair of triples. The Firecrackers turned double plays in each of the first three innings. Jack Meagher, Paul Justice, and Manny Sanchez had three hits, while John Wyks, Don Brozick, Pat Perkins, Dave Williams, Gary Arnold, and sub, Chris Iorio added two hits each in the loss.

Arden Jewelers continued to win with a victory over Fross & Fross 19-13.

Arden got four hits from Mark Hildebrand and clean up batter Jim White, who had a pair of doubles, a triple, and a 2 run homer. Adding three hits for Arden were: Bill Reed, Don Mulneix, and Tom Bortle. Rod Severson and sub, Bill Naasz each had home runs. Sub Bob Buchanan started the fourth inning with a triple. Fross & Fross had four hits by Alan Zahm and John Gouin. Chipping in three hits were Ron Rowe and Al DuBuc.

Paul Davis Restorations scored in every inning on their way to defeating Softball’s R Game 19-8.

Leading Paul Davis were Mike Jeffries, John Barracato, and Bob Buchanan with four hits each. Adding three hits for the winners were: Chick Cicatelli, Jim Wiegand, and Jeff Stein. Softball’s R Game got three hits by Scott Marshall and a pair of hits from: Pat Rice, Ed Krisha, Ray Bedford, Mike Hyott, and Jim Rogers.

IHOP broke open their game with five runs in the fourth and bested Gators Brownwood 14-3.

With the game tied at 2 each at the end of the first IHOP switched pitchers and Rich Bergman held Gators to just one more run for the win. Leading the IHOP offense was Maury Fjestad with four hits. Smacking three hits were: Chuck Bowman, Gary Roth, Randy Bowen. Gators Brownwood had a pair of hits from Jim Morton, David Blandford, Dennis Nero, and injury sub, John Hoover.

Humana came back in the bottom of the seventh to score 8 runs and overtake Palm Ridge Dental for the win 17-16.

Palm Ridge jumped out to an early 10-2 lead by scoring five runs in each of the first two innings. The Dental team got three hits each from: John Goulet, Joe Mayer, and Don Winstead. Adding a pair of hits were: Ed Haith, Gary Luck, Ken Scanlon, and sub, Kirby Campanella. Humana’s Dave Hinkley and Vin Stebbins had four hits. Adding three hits were: Don Melcher and Gary Lewis. The Humana team got hot late in the game as they scored five runs in the sixth before scoring their eight runs in the bottom of the seventh. Vin Stebbins had the walk off hit driving in two runs for the win.
