Central Florida League fall highlights week nine

After taking time to vote, the CFL played 5 games on Tuesday and the results led to a tightening of the race for first place. A potential three way tie for first could be the result of next week’s games.

Tuesday saw Paul Davis Restorations return to action with a convincing victory over league leading Arden Jewelers 19-6.

Paul Davis got five hits from Bob Buchanan and four each by Don Mulneix and Bill Nisbit. Gary DePalma, Jim Harrison and Bob Kelly had three hits for the victors. Arden sub pitcher, Jim Joseph had three hits to pace Arden. Rod Severson, Al Mahar, and Pat Perkins got two hits each as Arden could only manage 6 runs on 17 hits.

The other critical game of the day saw IHOP take down Softball’s R Game 17-6.

IHOP had four hits apiece by Ron Goldman and Gary Roth, while Manny Sanchez and Rich Bergman added three each. John Barracato had a two run homer in the third inning for IHOP. Softball’s R Game was led by Scott Marshall’s three hits and Don Brozick drove in three runs with two hits and a sacrifice fly.

IHOP and Paul Davis could knot up the first place standings with wins next week as Arden has the bye week.

Harlan Insurance notched another win with a 12-10 victory over Fross & Fross.

Harlan’s Tom Ceglie led the team with four hits. Collecting three hits were: Charles Clare, Ed Bergheimer, and sub, Tom Ramberg. Fross & Fross attempted to tie up the score in the top of the seventh as they scored 5 runs; but, fell short. John Buchanan and Jack Nagle led Fross with four hits each. Ron Rowe had three hits as the lead off batter.

Palm Ridge Dental beat Synergy Wealth 14-7.

Lead off batter Ed Haith got Palm Ridge going as he stroked four hits. John Goulet and Dave Williams added three hits to power the winners. Synergy had two hits each by: Jim Creed, Conrad Strassle, Art Anton, Pete Davidson, and sub, Mark Hildebrand.

Humana bats awaken as they defeat Buffalo Crossings 19-5.

Humana was led by Dave Oatley and sub pitcher, Ed Krisha, who had four hits each. Mark Goodwin, Bob Roth, Bill Yeager, and sub, Doug St.Andrew had three hits in the win. Buffalo Crossings got two hits each from: Jim Wiegand, manager, John Leone, and sub, Denis HodgeC

Golf course deserves a failing grade

A Village of Hadley resident recently played an executive golf course that had earned a B- grade in a recent report grade. He says the golf course now deserves a failing grade.
