Central Florida League Winter 2017 Week 8 Highlights

The last day of February provided more exciting CFL softball action.  Softball’s R Game continues to hold first place after defeating FBC Mortgage 14-4.  SRG’s lead off batter, Jim Stencil, paced his team with four hits.  Scott Marshall and Jerry Jensen added three hits each.  FBC Mortgage had two hits from Rocky Spottswood and Mike Bernbach.

CFL CarePlus outscores Babiarz Law 13-12

CFL CarePlus got four hits each from Tom Brock and Dale Neff.  Adding three hits apiece were:  Manny Sanchez, Don Brozick, and Chuck Alexander.  Babiarz Law got three hits from Ed Moriarity and Mark Goodwin.  Adding a pair of hits were:  Ken Link, John Charles, Craig Dahlquist, Bob Nyce, and Don Evans.  Manager, Bob Winder, drove in two runs with a triple.

IHOP continues to win the close games coming from behind to defeat Harlan Insurance 7-6 in eight innings.

Bobby DePace and Rich Bergman led IHOP with three hits.  Chipping in a pair of hits apiece were: Will Kutter and Ron Goldman.  Harlan had two hits from nine of their eleven players. Buffalo Crossing got back in to the win column by besting Paul Davis Restorations 16-5  Buffalo Crossing had three hits from Ed Chirumbolo, Howard Charney, Peter Davidson, and sub, Mike Bernbach.  Doug St.Andrews, Bob Holbert, and Jim Wiegand added a pair of hits for the winners.  Chick Cicatelli led Paul Davis with three hits and Bob Kelly, Bob Buchanan, Tom Ramberg, Bill Nisbet, and Doug Nantais had a pair each.

Palm Ridge Dental defeated Humana 9-4

Palm Ridge got back to back solo homers from Ed DeMaio and Gary Nicolay in the first inning.  Pat Perkins had three hits as Ed Haith, Gary Luck, and Dana Lambillotte joined Nicolay and DeMaio with two hits each.  Humana’s Jim Gordon led the team with three hits.  Duane Broschat, Dave Oatley, Maury Fjestad, and sub, Rick Murgittroyd, all had two hits.

Arden Jewelers held Fross & Fross scoreless for six innings and came away victors 11-5   Pacing Arden were Mark Hildebrand with four hits and Tom Farrell, John Meindl, and Bob Cramer with three each.  Fross had three hits by their lead off man Ralph Furbush and two each by Dave Pope, Al Deibler, and sub, Tim Wilcox. Fross sent nine batters to the plate in the bottom of the seventh and scored five runs before the third out came to end the comeback. —John Wyks, reporting
