Central Florida League Winter highlights week five

Week five saw high scoring action as two teams showed no mercy to their opponents.

Unbeaten Palm Ridge Dental handed Fross & Fross a 15-0 loss.

Lead off batter Ed Haith, set the tone for Palm Ridge with a home run to start the game. Ed DeMaio added a two run homer in the third. John Goulet drove in two runs with a pair of doubles. Also with two hits: Haith, DeMaio, George Loew, Mike Jeffries, Dana Lambillotte, and Bob Jacques. Pitcher, Gary Luck, helped his cause stroking three hits. Fross and Fross only managed six hits with Randy Bowen getting two.

The league’s other undefeated team, Paul Davis Restorations, scored three runs in the top of the seventh to go ahead and held Harlan Insurance to take the win 9-6.

Paul Davis was led by the three hits each by: Chick Cicatelli, Bob Buchanan, Tom Ramberg, and Bill Nisbet. Harlan got two hits from: Charles Clare, Ed Shirk, Fred Hughes, and David Blandford. Blandford tied the score up in the bottom of the sixth with a two run homer.

FBC Mortgage handed Buffalo Crossing an 18-2 loss in five innings.

FBC had three hits by: Rocky Spottswood, Mike Bernbach, Phil Palma and Fred Weingard. Tim Wilcox drove in four runs with two hits and Carl McWilliams drove in two with a pair of hits.  FBC manager and pitcher, Jim Joseph, held Buffalo to only 5 hits. Jim Harrison drove in one run with a double in the 5th and Jim Wiegand had a sacrifice fly in the 4th to drive in the other run.

Babiarz Law scored in all but one inning to defeat Humana 22-12.

Babiarz got four hits each by: Ken Link, John Charles, and Don Evans.   Adding three hits were: Ed Moriarity, Bob Winder, and Bob Nyce. Humana got four hits from Bob Roth, three of them triples, and Jim Kitzler. Dave Oatley drove in three runs with a sacrifice fly and two singles.

Softball’s R Game blasted Synergy Wealth 23-9.

Scott Marshall had the hot bat for SRG with a pair of singles, a pair of doubles, and a 3 run homer. Also contibuting for the winners were: Ed Krisha, four hits, and Jim Stencil and Ed Bergheimer with three hits each. Synergy’s Roy Warter drove in three runs with three hits. Vinny Pezzullo and Jim Creed had a pair of hits and Rick Duemler had solo homer in the bottom of the seventh.

IHOP scored two runs in the top of the seventh and held off Arden Jewelers for a 12-10 win.

IHOP’s Wayne Mallory threw out two Arden players at home in the big defensive plays of the game. Mallory also led the offense with four hits. Rich Bergman and Will Kutter added three hits for IHOP. Arden manager and pitcher, John Ashby, led his team with three hits. Contributing two hits each were: Tom Farrell, Dan Kincaid, Mike DiMaio, and Bill Reed. Reed had a two run homer in the second.

Serious top-down management failure in The Villages
