Central Florida League Winter highlights week three

Week three action in the CFL saw three games decided by one run.

CFL CarePlus got their first win of the season defeating the league’s other new team, FBC Mortgage 15-12.

CarePlus was led by Dennis Bauch, who had four hits on the day. Adding three hits for the winners were: Manny Sanchez, Ed Niles, manager, Tom Bortle, Leroy Yoder, and Don Brozick, who homered in the first inning. FBC’s Rick Murgittroyd had two doubles and a triple to drive in three runs. Also with three hits were: Mike Bernbach, and Carl McWilliams.

Paul Davis Restorations made the most out of two big innings to score 8 runs and held off Humana to win 8-7.

Leading Paul Davis with three hits each were: manager, Jeff Bekasi, Bob Buchanan, and Vin Stebbins. Doug Nantais and Bill Nisbet added two hits each. Humana’s Jim Kitzler led his team with three hits, while Bob Nizlek had a pair of doubles and Tom McGann a double and a triple.

Palm Ridge Dental stymied Softball’s R Game’s offense and came away with a 14-5 win.

Palm Ridge got four hits from George Loew and John Goulet, Gary Nicolay, and Ken Scanlon added three hits each. Last season’s home run leader, Pat Perkins, had a homer and a single to drive in three runs. Softball’s R Game lead off batter Jim Stencil had three hits as did Scott Marshall. Jerry Jensen and sub, Dave Hinkley, added two hits apiece in the loss.

Playing without manager Vernon Brooks, Synergy Wealth scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh to take Babiarz Law 10-9.

Tom Winegarden led Synergy with three hits including a three run triple in the second inning. Jim Creed had a two run homer in the fifth to knot the score at 9 all. Rick Duemler drove in the winning run with a single. Babiarz got three hits from Larry Williams, while Ed Moriarity, Bob Nyce, Don Evans, and Mark Goodwin had two hits. Goodwin had a three run triple to drive in the fifth run in the first inning.

IHOP scored in all but one inning to take Fross & Fross 22-17.

IHOP got four hits from: Will Kutter, Jim Lambert and Rich Bergman. IHOPers Tom Bent, Will Kutter and Jim Fetela all stroked home runs, driving in 7 runs. Ron Goldman and Wayne Mallory added three hits in the win. Fross & Fross lead off batter Ron Rowe had four hits on the day as did last season’s batting champ, Jack Meagher. Adding two hits were: Al Deibler, Duane Miller, Al DuBuc, and Ralph Furbush.

Leading 7-6 going into the final inning Arden Jewelers scored three runs in the bottom to outscore Buffalo Crossings 10-9.

Buffalo Crossings was led by Ed Chirumbolo and Howard Charney, who each stroked three hits. Adding a pair of hits were: Bob Holbert, Peter Davidson, Jerry Palagonia, and sub, Tom Stonseng. Arden’s offense was led by three hits by Bill Reed and Mark Hildebrand. Adding a pair of hits were: John Meindl and Gene Guerriero.
