The Villages Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) recently completed two of four classes offering CPR-AED training to the Honor Flight Guardians who accompany WWII veterans on their flights to Washington D.C. Â Guardians who have never been CPR certified or who want to be re-certified are given a three hour course that teaches the proper procedures for performing CPR, how to correctly use an Automatic External Defibrillator, and performing abdominal thrusts on choking children and adults. They are also instructed on the proper procedure for clearing the airway of choking infants.
The next Honor Flight takes off in about two weeks.
“CERT members were asked to instruct these classes and, since the community has come together to make this program a huge success, we are pleased to participate by volunteering our time also,” said Wayne Ward of CERT.
