CFL 2017 summer highlights week 9

As the season enters its final weeks the race for top spot is still up for grabs.

Softball’s R Game holds on to first place with an 8-7 win over Gators Brownwood.

SRG got three hits from Charles Clare and Gary Nicolay. Nicolay had the only extra base hits in the game with a triple and a pair of doubles. Contributing two hits each were: Bill Nisbet, Dan Kincaid and Ed Krisha. Gators had tied the game up with three runs in the bottom of the fourth; but, were unable to score the rest of the game. Gators had two hits apiece from: Wayne Grunewald, Pat Perkins, Don Brozick, Al Mahar, and Al Deibler.

Synergy retained possession of second place with a come from behind win over CarePlus 15-14.

CarePlus started the game with John Wyks pitching for the first time in the CFL. After giving up a walk to Dave Pope and 5 runs, Wyks switched places with the team’s catcher, Paul Winsor, who pitched the rest of the game. CarePlus took a 14-13 lead into the bottom of the seventh thanks to four hits from Mark Goodwin and Dave Oatley and three from Jim Wiegand. Manny Sanchez, Dave Williams, John Reedy, Tom WInegarden, Ed Wyks, and Paul Winsor had a pair of hits each. Synergy Wealth got four hits by George Kennedy and three each by Bud Ramsey, Jeff Stein , Jeff Bekasi, and Bob Buchanan. Chipping in a pair of hits were: Art Anton and Jim Gordon. Vinny Pezzullo drew a bases loaded walk to score the last run of the game.

FBC Mortgage continued to hold the third spot in the league with an 8-6 win over Palm Ridge Dental.

FBC had three hits each from Ron Parson, Ed Haith, Tim Wilcox, and Chuck Alexander. FBC scored 5 runs in the top of the 6th as the first six batters stroked hits. The last run of the inning scored on a sacrifice fly by Jim Joseph. Palm Ridge Dental got three hits by Jim Morton and a pair of Next Tuesday sees the end of the regular season with Joel Beason Memorial Tournament taking place the first two weeks in August.

Our amenities are being used by families with kids
