CFL summer highlights week five

The Central Florida League returned to action on Tuesday after a 2 week hiatus.

In the early games IHOP defeated Buffalo Crossing 14-5 on the strength of an 8 run 7th inning.

IHOP lead off batter, Jim Fetela, led the way with 4 hits. Pitcher, Jim Glover and Chick Cicatelli added 3 hits apiece for the winners. Buffalo Crossing got two hits each from Vinny Caso, Don Brozick, and Manny Sanchez.

The other early game was a see-saw battle that ended with Synergy Wealth beating Mulberry Integrative Medicine 23-22 with a walk off hit by Rick Fredieu.

Mulberry had 5 hits by Chuck Bowman and pitcher, R. J. Jackson had 4 hits. Mark Hildebrand, John Hoover, and Rod Severson all had 3 hits. For Synergy Rick Fredieu, Dave Williams, and, manager, Vernon Brooks had 4 hits apiece. Roger Duncan stroked 3 hits with a pair of triples; and, Ed DeMaio was perfect with 3 walks and 2 hits including a first inning 2 run homer.

Babiarz Law continued to win with a 9-3 win over Harlan Insurance.

Babiarz was led by Jeff Bekasi, Jim Creed, Tom Aldridge, Bill Brough, and manager, Ed Moriarity with 2 hits each. Harlan’s Pete Glowacki, Mark Schiffhauer, and Jim Fellabaum all had 2 hits in the loss. Babiarz turned 3 double plays to cut short 3 innings.

The last game of the day saw Softball’s R Game remain on top of the league with a 19-18 win over Fross & Fross, whose 6 run 7th inning rally came up one run short.

SRG was led by Bob Buchanan with 4 hits. Rick Duemler, Ray Bedford, and Jim Harrison all had 3 hits for the winners. Fross & Fross got 4 hits by lead off batter Mike Hyott and 3 hits from: Don Mulneix, Ken Link, and pitcher, Bob Marano. Bob Kelly was perfect on the day with 2 walks and 2 hits; and, Chuck Alexander hit a 3 run homer in the third.
