Charles James Cullen, 94, of Summerfield, FL, passed from this life Wednesday, June 22, 2016.
Born in Little Valley, NY he was the son of the late Joseph H. and Edna M. (Witchen) Cullen.
Charles was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He retired after 20 years of service. He had also served in the U. S. Navy. He came to Summerfield from Hanover, IL in1985.
Charles was a member of the United Methodist Church of Belleview. He was a Mason for over 50 years and member of the Kavanaugh Masonic Lodge #36 of Elizabeth, IL. He was a life member of VFW Post #8083 of Belleview.
Besides his parents, Charles was predeceased by his first wife, Barbara, his brothers Leonard and Duane and his sister, Leona Freaney.
He leaves his wife of 25 years, Alveila J. (Thomas) Cullen; sons; Lewis B. C. Thompson (Marjorie) of Dumas, TX; Carl W. Cullen (Barbara) of Rockford, IL; daughter, Linda M. Battenberg of Freeport, IL; step-daughter, Constance L. Moore (Eric) of Sidney, ME; brothers; Joseph Cullen (Julia) of Sarasota, FL; LeRoy Cullen, Warren, PA; Howard Cullen (Shirley) of Ohio; sister; Nellie M. Lyles of Sanford, FL; sister-in-law; Shirley Cullen of Eustis, FL; 3 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services 1511 Buenos Aires Blvd., The Villages on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at 11 a.m. A visitation will be held an hour prior to the service starting at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Lakeside Memory Gardens, Eustis at 1 p.m.
