Former Summerfield resident Charles Ripley Jenkins, 85, passed from this life Sunday, April 13, 2014. Born in Fayetteville, Arkansas he was the son of the late Raymond L. and Leila (White) Jenkins. Charles was a foreign service officer for the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). He retired after 32 years of service. Charles was a World War II veteran serving in the U. S. Coast Guard. He came to Tampa from Summerfield in 2011. He was most proud of his marriage of 45 years to his wife Monica and family. Charles was predeceased by a daughter, Sherri West and siblings Kenneth A. Jenkins, Robert W. Jenkins, Lois McCalmont and Martha Sue Hayes. He leaves his wife, Monica Jenkins, brother, Raymond Jenkins of North Platte, NE, sons, Jeffrey Jenkins, Corvallis, OR, Bruce Jenkins of Chico, CA, Robin Jenkins of Diamond Springs, CA. daughter, Julie Evans of Moscow, ID, and 7 grandchildren. Funeral services and burial will be private. Arrangements entrusted to Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, The Villages, FL.
