Clyde F. Kemper

Clyde Kemper passed away on September 26, 2014 at the age of 97 years old. Mr. Kemper was born in Waynesboro, PA. He and his wife Madeline (deceased) moved to The Villages in October 1993. He retired January 1984 after working in the manufacturing industry 40 years and reaching the goal he set earlier in life. He and his wife had a great desire to take a historical tour of the forty eight contingent states that makes up America. With the help of history and geography books plus AAA they stated the tour on the east coast taking in so many states each summer, visiting the historical areas and national parks and finally ended the tour in the state of Washington. Now it was time to look for senior living retirement center. Hearing about The Villages, he made a visit and decided that was the place to spend the rest of his life. After moving to the villages he became very interested in its future growth and became a representative for The Villages Homeowners Association in Rio Grande II in 1994. He held many positions in the organization. For several years he and his wife published a 115 page Newcomers Information Booklet that were given to new members of the VHA to help them to get acquainted with their new home town and surrounding area. Mr. Kemper enjoyed playing tennis, fishing, hiking, bicycling, traveling, classical music, bocce, shuffle board and woodworking. He started The Villages first wood working club and they made toys for the soon to be opened new Boggy Creek Camp for children. He and his wife were volunteers helping top prepare the camp for opening day. He was a member of the following organizations: an honorary member of Acacia Masonic Lodge#394 and a Mason for 75 years of service, honorary and oldest member of The Boumi Shrine Temple, Baltimore, MD., and Village Shrine Club, Druid Royal Arch Chapter No. 28, Baltimore MD., Monumental Commandary Knights No. 3, Tri-county Hi Twelve Club and the Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons of Maryland. He survived by his daughter Patricia Gray of Tehachpi, CA. grandchildren Richard Harting of Long Beach, CA. Davis Harting of Seattle WA., and Roberta Vespremi of Montara, CA. and 5 great grandchildren. Mr. Kemper was preceded in death by his son Donald and his wife of 67 years, Madeline In lieu of flowers donations can be made on The Shrine Children’s Hospital in Tampa, Florida
