Col. George Allen Austin

Col. George Allen Austin, age 83, of Leesburg, Florida, died October 31, 2016 in a Leesburg, Florida medical center. George was a retired Colonel; in the United States Air Force. He was the recipient of the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal w1 OLC, Air Medal w/2 OLC, and the Air Force Commendation Medal to name a few. George was also a Vietnam War Veteran and was of the Baptist Faith.
He was born July, 27, 1933 in Chicago, Ill. To the late Sanford Melvin and Lottie Marie Conners Austin. He is survived by his wife of 61 years Christine Parker Austin, and three children: Sons, David Austin, Daniel Austin and wife Marianna , Daughter, Donna Cleveland and husband John, of Scottsboro, AL. He is also survived by two grandsons, Matthew Cleveland and Zachary Austin.
Friends may call at the Page Theus Funeral Home, Monday, November 7, from 2 to 4 p.m. Funeral Services will begin at 4 p.m. The Reverend Gary Blanchard officiating. Interment will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Florida National Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the United States Air Force
Honor Guard.
