Cornerstone Hospice to offer support groups for coping with chronic illness, men’s bereavement

Cornerstone Hospice has announced the introduction of two new support groups.
Coping with Chronic Illness Support Group

Many chronic illnesses are not visible to others, but they can impact us in many ways on a daily basis. If you are coping with a chronic illness, do you have anyone with whom you can talk about it?  Do you know how to talk about it or are afraid of how much to tell?  If you talk about it, are you concerned that your friends see you as “different”? How does it impact your self-image?  Are you bothered that you cannot live a full life when there are nagging concerns about the future?  A support group of this kind has helped many people.  They find that conversation and camaraderie with like-minded people can make all the difference.

Rachel Schmitz, Ph.D., Counselor for Cornerstone Hospice will meet every other Tuesday starting March 28 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Cornerstone Hospice – Serenity Center (Chapel) in the courtyard of The Villages Hospice House at 601 Casa Bella, The Villages.

Men’s Bereavement Support Group

Have you lost a loved one? Would you like to spend a little time in the company of others who
understand how difficult that can be? Whether your loss was recent, or in the past, please
join us for morning coffee and conversation. The group facilitator is Patrick Brown, MA – Human Services Counselor. The meetings are every other Thursday (starting April 4, 2017) from 7:30 – 8:30 a.m. at Hope Lutheran Church, 250 Avenido Los Angelos, Room 204-Admin Building, The Villages..

Please RSVP by calling 352-751-3100 for either the chronic illness or the men’s bereavement support group.
