Green Key Village, the energy efficient community on Lake Ella Road in Lady Lake, is planning an expansion with 27 new age-restricted homes.
“The Cottages of Green Key” won preliminary approval Tuesday evening of the Lady Lake Planning and Zoning Board.
The homes will be 1,200 to 1,650 square feet plus a rear-load garage, lanai and a front porch.
The owner stated that The Cottages of Green Key “will compliment and diversify Green Key Village in appearance, size and density and will be in keeping with the overall architectural look and lifestyle.”
In February, Green Key Village opened a swimming pool, tennis and pickleball courts. The community is not age-restricted, although the cottages would be age-restricted.
Green Key Village is a member of the Florida Green Building Coalition. All homes built at Green Key Village are individually certified using climate-specific criteria established by the FGBC to address issues caused by Florida’s hot, humid environment.
