Margo Smith, famed country singer who lives in The Villages, is in Ocala Regional Medical Center fighting double pneumonia, her husband said.
Smith, who was seriously injured in a car accident two years ago, is in the ICU being treated.
“She has double pneumonia and some other issues,” said Richard Cammeron, Margo’s husband and manager said Tuesday. “The doctors are hopeful, and Margo is a real fighter.”
Smith had numerous country hits during the 1970s and ‘80s and has been a force in country gospel music.
When asked what Margo’s fans can do, Cammeron replied: “Right now we’re asking for their prayer.”
