Couple who met in Sumter Singles, marry under Live Oak tree

Tom Lawrenson and Irene Kozma are the first couple to be married in The Village of Hillsborough.

They met at the Sumter Singles dinner at the Waterfront Inn on a Wednesday night in July 2012.

They got engaged in February and the wedding took place on Saturday, Aug. 16 behind the Lake Deaton pool under the Live Oak tree.

Friends and family surrounded them as they said their vows.

Lawrenson’s two sons, Tom and Richard, stood by him during the vows. Arlene DeRosa stood by the bride. 

The wedding was officiated by Villager Jane Bloom.

Following the ceremony, a lively party took place at Bradenton Recreation Center.
