Crash on County Road 42 leaves two dead

A 67-year-old Weirsdale man and 31-year-old Summerfield man are dead following a collision at 5:54 p.m. Tuesday on County Road 42 at SE 58th Avenue.

A truck driven by Terry Allen Cole of Weirsdale was traveling west on County Road 42 when it crossed the center line and collided with another pickup driven by Ronald Lee Messer, 40, of Summerfield, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

A third vehicle driven by Darren Adryan Parker, 20, of Summerfield, was also traveling west on County Road 42 and collided head on with the pickup driven by Cole, according to FHP reports.

A passenger in Parker’s vehicle, Juan Manuel Sanchez, 31,of Summerfield, was taken to Ocala Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. Another passenger in Parker’s vehicle, Arturo Martinez of Summerfield, suffered critical injures and was taken to Ocala Regional Medical Center. Parker also suffered critical injuries and was also taken to the Ocala hospital.

Cole was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

Messer and a passenger in his vehicle, 21-year-old Angel Luis Diaz  of Summerfield, escaped serious injury.
