Cubs World group hosting night with legendary Cleveland Indians pitcher

Sam McDowell was a six-time All-Star who pitched for four different Major League teams.

A longtime Major League pitcher will be the guest of honor at an upcoming Cubs World meeting.

Sam McDowell, who pitched for the Cleveland Indians from 1961-71, will speak at the group’s meeting Monday, Oct. 1 at 6 p.m. at Colony Cottage Recreation Center.

The 76-year-old McDowell was a six-time All-Star who also played for the San Francisco Giants, the New York Yankees and the Pittsburgh Pirates. He retired in 1975 as a five-time American League strikeout leader and is a member of the Indians Hall of Fame.

The cost to attend the meeting is $12, which includes a catered meal from Oakwood Smokehouse & Grill. Those interested in attending can sign up and pay at Cubsworld.org. Deadline to RVSP is Friday, Sept. 28.
