Custom Apparel won FHC 70’s Division II Championship

Custom Apparel won the Villages sponsored Florida Half Century – Division Two 70’s bracket championship held at Soaring Eagle in the Villages over the weekend.
They won both games on Saturday beating Lane Construction (15 -5) and coming from behind to beat a very fine Beach Boyz team (12-11) by scoring 8 runs in the last two innings culminating with a walk off double by Paul Sorse in the bottom of the 7th. Custom Apparel pulled off four double plays and a rare triple play to hold off the Beach Boyz who had an early lead.
In a rematch in the first game on Sunday, the Beach Boyz came from behind to beat Custom Apparel (14-13) scoring two runs in the bottom of the 7th after Custom Apparel had taken a 13-12 lead in the top of the 7th on a clutch triple by Tom Guinan. Custom Apparel closed out the day winning their bracket by beating Cross Cuts 70’s (21 – 17) with Jim Greco, Reno Saculla and John Reedy knocking in three runs a piece.
Custom Apparel was lead in hitting by Mike Hyott who batted (.909),  Bob Juhasz (727) and Bill Dunkley (.692) with two triples and a Home Run. Reno Saculla chipped in with (.667) with strong support from Bruce Forrester (Pitcher) and Tom Guinan batting (.636).
In the absence of manager Tony Prettitore, I wish to thank all our team members for their strong showing this weekend. The support they showed for their teammates and for the tournament support scoring games through the day following their own games. A special thanks to Marty Berger for attending and keeping the books.
