Dale A. Nelson

Dale A. Nelson, 68, of The Villages, Florida, passed from this life Friday, August 22, 2014. Born in Schenectady, NY he was the son of the late Walter and Jane (Klein) Nelson. Dale was a graduate of the Pratt Institute of Brooklyn, NY and was a restaurant owner and certified club manager. He began his career at Howard Johnson’s in Glenmont, NY, managed Mariner’s Harbor Restaurant, owned and operated the Van Wyck Restaurant, and several Subway Shops, and was a manager at Sleepy Hollow Country Club all in Westchester and Albany counties in New York State. He was also an instructor at the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) in Dutchess County NY. He retired in 2010 moving to The Villages, FL from Albany, NY. Dale enjoyed golf, swimming and being with his friends. Besides his parents he was predeceased by siblings Doris Mariotti and Gordon Nelson. Dale leaves his wife, Myra (Delaney) Nelson, daughter Briton Nelson of Syracuse, NY, stepson, Matthew Kuhl of Albuquerque, NM, stepdaughter, Heidi Kuhl-Thompson of Syracuse, sister, Sandra Benny of Austin, TX and step-granddaughter, Molly Bagatell of Syracuse, NY. The family will receive relatives and friends at a Gathering to be held at the Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services 1511 Buenos Aires Blvd., The Villages on Thursday, August 28, 2014 from 2 to 3 p.m., followed by a Memorial Service at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Heart Association, the Lung Association or the ASPCA.
