Deadline looms for those who want to vote for Trump in Florida primary

Want to vote for Donald Trump in the Florida primary?

You’d better make sure your paperwork is in order.

Florida has a closed primary, which means that you can vote only in the contest of the party in which you are registered.

That means that if you want to vote for Trump, who is running as a Republican, you must be registered as a Republican. If you are registered as a Democrat or No Party Affiliation, you cannot participate in the GOP primary on March 15.

If you wish to change your party affiliation, you have until 5 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16 to do so, according to Sumter County Supervisor of Elections Karen Krauss.

Villagers who wish to make a change to their party affiliation can do so at the Annex at County Road 466 and Morse Boulevard, Krauss added.

The deadline is the same in Lake and Marion counties.
