Deltona woman killed when vehicle leaves I-4 and strikes tree

A Deltona woman was killed early Wednesday when her vehicle left Interstate 4 and struck a tree in Seminole County.

Vanessa Rivera, 29, was driving a 2001 two-door Acura east on I-4, in the area of Mile Marker 96, but failed to maintain a single lane, according to a Florida Highway Patrol accident report. Rivera crossed over the east outside travel lane of I-4 and entered the outside grass shoulder, colliding with a “No Parking” sign with the front of her vehicle, the report stated. Rivera’s vehicle continued to travel until the front of her vehicle collided with a tree, ejecting Rivera.

Rivera died at the scene of the accident. The crash remains under investigation.
