The Developer has turned down a request from Community Development District 7 to chip in on a $1.7 million project to shore up the embankment of the Morse Boulevard bridge.
The Developer’s response letter (which can be seen at this link mark-morse-letter) was discussed at Thursday morning’s CDD 7 meeting.
In the response letter, the Developer indicated he already is paying his “proportionate share of funds to the Project Wide Advisory Committee.”
CDD 7 Supervisor Ron Ruggeri said the Developer’s share through the Sumter Landing Community Development District is .92 percent of the PWAC budget. The percentages are based on acreage.
CDD 7 Supervisor Jerry Vicente pointed out that the CDD 7 portion of the PWAC budget is 12 percent. He estimated that CDD 7 residents will be on the hook to the tune of $170,000 for the planned $1.7 million rock revetment project aimed at shoring up the embankment to the Morse Boulevard bridge.
In addition, Vicente said he was “insulted” that the Developer did not answer questions about the construction of the bridge asked in the CDD 7 letter (which you can read at this link cdd-7-nov-30-letter-to-the-developer.)
“If we are paying $170,000 we want to go back to the original specs and see if the bridge was built correctly,” Vicente said.
“We should look into how it was built originally. With the (lack of) current and no-salt water, it’s hard to believe we had that kind of erosion,” he added.
