Dewey W. Guthrie Jr.

Dewey W. Guthrie, Jr. ‘Bud or Buddy’, of The Villages, FL, passed away January 20, 2016. Mr. Guthrie was married to Ann for 54 years. He was born in Washington D.C. but lived in Maryland before moving to The Villages in 2000. He was an avid golfer and sports fan, especially the Washington Redskins. Mr. Guthrie was a member of New Covenant United Methodist Church and several organizations. He was a member for 55+ years of Local #132 United Brotherhood of Carpenters & Joiners of America.

Survivors include his son Dewey W. Guthrie, III “Duke”, daughter-in-law Lynn, granddaughter Samantha. From his previous marriage, daughter Debbie Blum, grandson A.J., son Lloyd Guthrie. Siblings: Ben Guthrie, Peggy Foster, Bill Guthrie, Dixie Guthrie, Barbara Taylor (predeceased), Mary Sylvia (predeceased).

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Beyers Funeral Home Chapel, Lady Lake, FL. Inurnment will follow at Florida National Veterans Cemetery, Bushnell, FL with full military honors. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Florida United Methodist Children’s Home.
