Discovery of World War II-era mortar shells forces evacuation of Ocklawaha home

A Marion County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad was called to a home in Ocklawaha on Thursday where a box containing four small World War II-era live mortar shells was discovered.

The house at SE 118th Terrace was evacuated and the bomb squad was called out to collect the mortar shells which were transported to the landfill and safely destroyed.
