SUMMER NOTES
The Blazers, Celtics and Mavericks are the only teams that have not used a sub ….. After missing the first seven games of the season, Geoff Grenert played for the Bobcats and went four-for-five. All drafted players have now appeared in at least one game….. Missing their first game of the season on Monday: Wayne Lender (Bobcats), Bill East (Bulls), Ken Greb Pacers), Bruce Naylor (Sixers) and Kit Kittrell (Suns)……. Runs were hard to find on field three on Monday, especially in the visitors’ dugout. In the nine o’clock game, the Mavericks could not score at all and lost to the Knicks 5-0; in the second game, it was the Celtics who were blanked (6-0 by the Rockets)….. Scoring is not a problem for the Bulls: they have 12 runs in every game….. The Kings are the only team with two players among the top ten hitters (Dan Salvatore and Rick Sanford)….. T-Wolves (5-0) and the Knicks and Warriors (both 4-0) are undefeated at home…… In their last four wins, the Knicks have only given up four runs per game; in their last three losses, the Mavericks could score only an average of three runs….. The Pacers and Suns used subs for the first time….. Art Rosemeier (broken finger) has filed a leave-of-absence for the T-Wolves. Art hopes to return in time for the post-season tournament….. The Warriors have played four straight games without committing an error and have just six miscues all season. The Pacers were doing even better (five errors in their first seven games), but they had four on Monday….. Only three teams have yet to play with a 12-player lineup: Bobcats, Warriors and Wizards…… Long-time player and former Board member Stan Dippel made a surprise return visit to Saddlebrook on Monday…… The Bulls and Mavericks are the only teams without a defensive double play….. There will be no stat updates from June 16 to June 30 as division statisticians Jann and Don Couturier take a well-deserved vacation.
