Dolfino J. ‘Duffy’ D’Ambrosio

Dolfino J. “Duffy” D’Ambrosio, 96, passed from this life Saturday, April 18, 2015. Born in Schenectady, NY he was the son of the late Natale and Utilia (Sirico) D’Ambrosio. Duffy was an Army veteran of World War II. Following military service he went in to the heating and air conditioning industry and was owner of 5 Star Fuel Oil Co. of Brooklyn, NY.
He moved to Light House Point, Florida with his wife Catherine in the mid 1970s. He was very active in boating and was a member of the Pompano Beach Florida Power Squadron. He attained the rank of Lieutenant Commander and taught courses ranging from basic boating to celestial navigation. He was known to his friends and neighbors as “ Mr. Fix-it” always willing to give a helping hand. Duffy moved to The Villages from Palm Coast, FL in 2014. He leaves his wife of 71 years, Catherine T. (Buro) D’Ambrosio, and daughter, Karen Tynes and her husband Gordon of The Villages, FL. The family will receive relatives and friends at a Gathering to be held at the Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services 1511 Buenos Aires Blvd., The Villages on Thursday, April 30, 2015 from 9 – 10 a.m. followed by a Memorial Service at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL following the service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Marion County www.hospiceofmarion.com
