Donald Ray ‘Donnie Ray’ Maddox, 63, of Lady Lake, FL went home to be with the Lord Monday, August 24th, 2015. He was born November 6th, 1951 to Ralph Maddox and Faye Maddox (Robinson) in Ridgely, TN. Donnie Ray deeply loved the Lord and sought to spread His Word through music. He especially enjoyed his time playing with the Sonset Band throughout Central Florida. In his younger years he honed his craft in Nashville playing with some of the great country names of the day. Later he owned a music store in Clermont where he could share his love of music to fellow Floridians. Donnie Ray was also passionate about the work done at the Men’s Mission in the Christian Care Center of First Baptist Church of Leesburg. This Mission played an important role in his own life and he wanted to be able to, similarly, help others. He worked as a drug and alcohol counselor for 25 years to aid others in finding peace in their life. Donnie Ray was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. He was a proud husband, brother, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife Lisa (Jenkins), daughters Jennifer (Jeff) Hunt and Tara (Ryan) Di Bella, sister Debi Cofield (Maddox), brothers Kenneth (Amanda) Davis, Doug (Jessie) Maddox, Stepchildren Aaron (Jill), Tara, and Danielle, 11 Grandchildren, and 2 Great Grandchildren. Funeral Services for Donnie Ray will be held Saturday, August 29th, 2015 at 3 p.m. at Beyer’s Funeral Home 134 N U.S. Hwy. 441 in Lady Lake. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday, August 29 from 1 – 3 p.m. prior to the service. The family would like to thank everyone who has sent condolences, prayers, and support. It is greatly appreciated during this very difficult time. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Christian Care Center Men’s Mission at First Baptist Church, Leesburg, FL.
