THE VILLAGES – Dorothea Ann “Dottie” King, 78, passed from this life September 13, 2014. Born in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late Horace and Marie (Bruns) Vallancourt. Dottie resided in Long Island, NY and worked as a secretary. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who found great joy and pride in her family.
Dottie moved to The Villages from North Carolina in 1997. She enjoyed golf, card games and the numerous social activities. Dottie was particularly gifted in needle work with crocheting and cross stitch her favorites. Sadly, Dottie was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, James King in 2011, by her son, James King, Jr. in 1996 and siblings, Alice Vallancourt, Jean Dadiego and John Vallancourt. She leaves a daughter, Donna Cresenti of The Villages, a son, Douglas King of Salisbury, NC and 5 grandchildren. The family will receive relatives and friends at a visitation to be held at the Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services 1511 Buenos Aires Blvd., The Villages on Monday September 15, 2014 from 3 to 5 PM. A Prayer Service will follow beginning at 5 PM. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
