A drunk driver was arrested Thursday evening after a car crash claimed the life of a woman in Pinellas County.
Denise Diometre, 65, of New Port Richey was driving a 2012 Hyundai Elantra northbound on East Lake Road in the inside line ahead of a 2008 Ford Explorer driven by Dustin Lee Rhoades, 29, of Clearwater, according to a Florida Highway Patrol accident report. Rhoades overtook Diometre’s vehicle, colliding with the rear of her vehicle within the intersection causing both vehicles to depart the roadway, the report stated.
Diometre was transported to Trinity Hospital where she died from injuries suffered in the crash.
Rhoades was arrested on charges of driving under the influence-manslaughter and vehicular homicide after providing a breath sample of 0.16.
