Driver, five passengers injured on I-75 in Sumter County

A van carrying six people crashed at 12:06 p.m. Tuesday on Interstate 75 in Sumter County. All six were injured and taken to Ocala Regional Medical Center, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Victor Julio Jimenez, 44, of Federal Way, Washington, was driving the van which experienced a right rear tire blowout. The names of the passengers were not immediately available.

The van struck a guardrail and then ended up in the center of the two northbound lanes of I-75.

The crash left the northbound lanes of I-75 closed until 1:38 p.m. Tuesday.
