Driver ticketed after knocking school bus to its side in Lake County

A school bus was knocked on its side Friday morning after it was struck by a pickup truck in Clermont.

The accident occurred at 6:15 a.m. at Citrus Tower Boulevard and Mohawk Road in Lake County, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

Donald Taylor, 48, of Clermont was driving a 1998 Dodge pickup when he failed to stop at a stop sign and struck the school bus in the intersection. The bus, driven by 58-year-old Julio Lugo of Minneola was knocked on its side, according to the FHP report. A passenger on the bus, 64-year-old Kathleen Farnsworth of Clermont, suffered minor injuries and was transported to Southlake Hospital in Clermont.

There were no schoolchildren on the bus when the accident occurred.

Taylor was ticketed for running a stop sign.
