Driver ticketed after crash in busy intersection that sent two Villagers to the hospital

A driver who ran a red light was ticketed in crash Wednesday that sent two Villagers to the hospital.

Darrell Wayne Johnson, 32, of Summerfield, had been in a 2005 Cadillac DeVille at 5:14 p.m. which was southbound on U.S. Hwy. 27/441 when he proceeded through a red light and struck a 2005 Toyota Sienna driven by 85-year-old Thomas Alfred Glennon of The Villages. He had been westbound on Avenida Central South, according to an accident report from the Lady Lake Police Department.

Glennon and a passenger, 91-year-old Betty L. Tanger, also of The Villages, were transported by ambulance to The Villages Regional Hospital.

Johnson was ticketed on a charge of failure to stop at a red light.
