Billie Jean Duty of Ocklawaha was ticketed on a charge of failure to use due care after she attempted to make a left hand turn onto Rolling Acres Road and pulled into the path of a 2007 Buick Lucerne driven by 75-year-old Janet Weidman of The Villages, according to an accident report from the Lady Lake Police Department.

Weidman had been traveling west on CR 466 in the far right lane when the vehicles made contact. William Rentz, 72, of The Villages, had been southbound on Rolling Acres Road and was stopped at the red light when the accident occurred. The right rear passenger tire came off Duty’s vehicle, striking the Hyundai utility vehicle driven by Rentz.

A passenger in Duty’s vehicle was transported by ambulance to The Villages Regional Hospital.

Duty’s vehicle and Weidman’s vehicle were towed from the scene.

Construction is causing all kinds of problems at an already dangerous intersection. They should just close the road, detour everyone around except local traffic. I work on Rolling Acres. Usually takes me 10 minutes to get to work. It took me 15 just to get from 466 to Fort Knox storage. And why are they doing this during season in the first place?

oh, those youngsters on their phones again>>> seriously, i FOOLISHLY went to the post office yesterday around 1:30, and the traffic was horrendous on rolling acres due to the construction… suggest all use alternative route

That is an intersection where anyone who doesn’t want to be involved in an accident should just slow down–way down. Left turns off 466 are blind and someone nearly always tries to turn without being able to see both oncoming lanes clearly. I crawl through there on a green light.
