Eight people transported to area hospitals after van rolls over in Marion County

Marion County Fire Rescue transported eight people to local hospitals  morning as a result of a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Northeast 63rd Street and Northeast Jacksonville Road.

At 8:40 a.m., Marion County Public Safety Communications received a 911 call for a vehicle roll-over accident involving a Chevrolet 15-passenger van and a Chrysler 300.  Marion County Fire Rescue crews arrived on scene in less than five minutes to find the van, operated by Eagle Medical Management, rolled over onto its side with seven occupants inside.

MCFR firefighters were able to safely extricate all seven occupants.  MCFR paramedics evaluated the driver and six passengers on-scene and transported them to local hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.  The driver of the Chrysler 300 was also transported to a local hospital in stable condition.

The cause of the accident is unknown and is currently under investigation by Florida Highway Patrol.

Marion County Fire Rescue would like to remind our citizens to obey the posted speed limits, wear seatbelts and never use a cell phone while driving.
