Eugene Wheat

Eugene Wheat, 89, of Oxford, FL, passed away Saturday, January 23, 2016. Born in Chicago, Gene moved to the Villages area 15 years ago with his wife, Shirley.
Gene was a U.S. Air Force veteran, a private pilot and a Kentucky Colonel. He was an avid golfer, and upon his retirement as an insurance agent, worked as an ambassador at Hacienda Hills Country Club for 15 years.
Gene is survived by his wife, Shirley, of Oxford, sons Patrick (Kim), of Cincinnati, OH and Michael (Kelly) of Lady Lake, 7 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
A viewing will be held Thursday, January 28, from 6  -8 p.m. at the Beyers Funeral Home Chapel in Lady Lake. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Timothy Catholic Church on Friday, January 29, at 8:30 a.m., with interment to follow at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
