Family safe after Oakland Hills home destroyed in weekend fire

A family escaped injury when their home in Oakland Hills was destroyed by fire this weekend.

The fire at the home of Jason Zick broke out shortly after 6:30 p.m. Saturday in the 7600 block of County Road 109D.

Units from Lake and Sumter County Fire Rescue were called in to assist the Villages Public Safety Department in fighting the blaze.  The origin of the fire has not yet been determined.  The family is now being assisted by the Red Cross.
