Fernandina & Friends to host fourth annual 9/11 remembrance to raise funds for veterans

Fernandina & Friends will host their fourth annual 9/11 remembrance on Sept. 10 at Lake Miona Recreation Center to help raise funds for two veterans.

This year, the group will raise funds for two honorees: Judid Escobar and Eric Konopa.

There will be a golf scramble earlier in the day held at Sandhill, Truman and Roosevelt golf courses. Tee times are from 11:45 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. All are welcome.

Dinner will be provided by Oakwood at Lake Miona Recreation Center and will include half-rack barbecue ribs, half a chicken, beans, coleslaw, rolls, soft drinks and cake.

Tickets are $25 per person. Guests are encouraged to dress themselves and their carts in red, white and blue as there will be prizes for the best in show. There will also be contests on each golf course: lowest our person team scramble, men and women’s closest to the pin and longest drives. Awards will be given to all winners.

The benefit dinner at Lake Miona Recreation Center will be from 5 to 8 p.m.
